(Shmirat Eynayim Warning: the video has a lady in it.)
We’ll start this post with why that’s potentially scary, then end this post with why the Jewish people don’t have to worry - and how all this is connected to the Tzaddik, Titus and finally putting ‘natural science’ in its place.
First, a bit of Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The conversation of Eiros and Charmion’. Eiros is a human who’s just ended his tenure down here in a big comet induced ‘conflagration’ and he’s now explaining what happened to his friend Charmion in Heaven. This was written in the first half of the 1800s, but really struck me as describing present circumstances:
“The individual calamity was, as you say, entirely unanticipated…...comets were divested of the terrors of flame…
“We had long regarded the wanderers as vapory creations of inconceivable tenuity, and as altogether incapable of doing injury to our substantial globe, even in the event of contact….
“…it was only with a few of the ignorant that actual apprehension prevailed, upon the announcement by astronomers of a new comet…The elements of the strange orb were immediately calculated and it was at once conceded by all observers that its path, at perihelion, would bring it into very close proximity with the earth….
“I cannot very well express to you the effect of this intelligence upon the people….
“Its approach was not, at first, seemingly rapid, not was its appearance of very unusual character. It was of a dull red and had little perceptible train. For seven or eight days we saw no material increase in its apparent diameter and but a partial alteration in its colour….
“The learned now gave their intellect - their soul - [to stressing points like:]…the density of the comet’s nucleus was far less than that of our rarest gas, and the harmless passage of a similar visitor among the satellites of Jupiter was a point strongly insisted upon, and which served greatly to allay terror….
“The learned spoke of slight geological disturbances, of probable alterations in climate…of possible magnetic and electric influences. Many held that no visible or perceptible effect would in any manner be produced.
(Plus, take a look at this guy's body language - he's a good liar, but there's still a bit too much glassy staring, strange twitches just before he drops another 'big one' on the audience and overall lack of enthusiasm about the script he's reading.)
Back to Poe:
“While such discussions were going on, their subject gradually approached, growing larger in apparent diameter, and of a more brilliant luster….The chimerical aspect of their terror was gone…It had taken, with inconceivable rapidity, the character of a gigantic mantle of rare flame, extending from horizon to horizon….
“Meantime, our vegetation had perceptibly altered and we gained faith from this predicted circumstance….A wild luxuriance of foliage, utterly unknown before, burst out upon every vegetable things…
“The first sense of pain was the wild signal for general lamentation and horror… [and] lay in a rigorous constriction of the chest and lungs and insufferable dryness of the skin. It could not be denied that our atmosphere was radically affected….
“We gasped in the rapid modification of the air…A furious delirium possessed all men and, with arms rigidly outstretched toward the threatening heavens, they trembled and shrieked aloud.”
They believed the last ‘mabbul’ was going to be a deluge of fire, just as the first ‘mabbul’ was a deluge of water.
WHAT THE MIDRASH SAYS
Now, I’m certainly not saying that Poe was a prophet, but his (much fuller) description of everything that went on before the comet’s denouement - including the denial, the ‘wise talking heads’ trotting out all their wrong theories about planets and comets, and mocking anyone who dared to suggest different, and people completely ignoring God and the soul-dimension to the picture until the very end of the process - all that’s going on right now, regardless of what the something out there ultimately proves to be.
But now, we’re going to turn our attention to the Midrash Bereishit Rabba, Chapter 8, where a whole discussion of the celestial bodies is linked up to Titus’ destruction of the Second Temple.
Here’s the Artscroll notes to that section:
“Titus entered the Holy of Holies with his sword drawn and pierced the curtain of the Paroches… which had housed the ‘soul’ of the Temple. And blood spurted forth, indicating the departure of the Temple’s ‘soul’, for the blood is the soul (Devarim 12:23).”
“As the Gemara (Gittin 56b) continues, the verse in Psalms 74:4 states: ‘Your enemies roared in the midst of your meeting place, they established their ‘signs’ as true signs.’ They believed that the celestial signs that dominate the nations were now to dominate Israel as well.”
- comets helped Avraham to defeat the 5 kings, and
- when comets wreaked havoc on Ancient Egypt (and the rest of the world…) at Exodus time and
- when Joshua commanded the sun to stop in the sky and it did, and
- when a comet came close to earth and electrocuted to death the 185,000 soldiers of Sennecherib’s army on Erev Pesach, saving King Hezkiyahu’s Jerusalem from being invaded -
NOW, the Jews also had what to fear from the celestial bodies.
Titus et al were effectively saying:
“You Jews are no longer above the stars. Now, you’re just like us, and subject to the same forces of nature that we are. Forget about Divine Providence, and about having emuna, and about believing that God is running every facet of the world. You’re going to effectively live like atheists now, believing in the ‘law of nature’ and nothing much else.”
Back to the Midrash notes:
“Then, the Midrash continues: Titus consorted with harlots on a Torah scroll spread out on the [Temple’s] Altar. A ‘harlot’ is a scriptural metaphor for alien philosophies antithetical to Torah truths (see Rashi and Malbim commentary to Proverbs 2:16 and 7:5) …With his outrage, Titus asserted the dominance of the heretical philosophies over the Torah and the Divine service of the Temple.”
The notes conclude:
“…the Gemara teaches (Shabbat 156a) ‘the celestial signs hold no sway over Israel, as it’s written (Jeremiah 10:2): ‘So says Hashem: Do not adopt the way of the nations and do not fear the signs of the heavens, for the nations fear them’ - the nations fear them, and not Israel.”
Jews are 'above the stars', in all ways.
The ‘Tzaddik of the generation’ - whether it’s a Moshe Rabbenu, a Joshua Bin Nin, a King Hezkiyahu - the celestial bodies are under their control, and doing their bidding for the good of the Jewish people.
AS LONG AS THE JEWISH PEOPLE ARE TRULY GOD-FEARING, TRYING TO KEEP MITZVOTH, AND ARE LISTENING TO THEIR TRUE TZADDIKIM, THEY HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT FROM NIBIRU-TYPE THINGS.
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION BETWEEN BELIEVING IN ‘MODERN SCIENCE’ AND NOT BELIEVING IN THE TZADDIK OF THE GENERATION?
For this bit of the puzzle, we have to come to over to the Likutey Moharan, Part 1: 49, where we find the following:
“When the Jewish people enter into the foreign wisdoms of the nations, the Tzaddik then falls from his perceptions and his perceptions become [covered] and hidden.
On the other hand, when the Jewish people leave the wisdom of the nations, then the Tzaddik takes leave of the [covering] and concealment beneath which he was until then.”
As always, I understood probably a millionth of a millionth of that lesson in Likutey Moharan, but what I understood, I’m sharing with you here, namely that it's the false belief so many Jews have in 'foreign wisdoms' like macro evolution, Carbon 14 dating, Newtonian physics, that people are just animals and bodies etc etc that's keeping the 'Tzaddik of the generation' covered up and unable to operate properly on our behalf.
TO SUM THINGS UP
So, I know sometimes I write some pretty unusual posts here on Emunaroma, and could be this is one of them, but it’s bringing a lot of stuff together that I’ve been writing about for ages.
If you read THIS POST on how God uses comets to fight for the Jews, and THIS ONE about comets in the Torah, and THIS ONE about how the universe really works, electromagnetically, and THIS ONE about the 6 different types of world we’ve gone through in the last 5777 years, and how we’re due one more big change to coincide with geula and Moshiach’s coming, this hopefully won’t seem too weird to you.
Similarly, if you’re following my ongoing series of posts about the false foundations of modern science over on www.spiritualselfhelp.org, you’ll hopefully be well on the way to leaving behind at least some of the ‘foreign wisdoms’ and ‘atheist philosophies’ that took root with Titus-Rome-Edom’s destruction of the second Temple.
To put this all into plain English, every time a Jew believes in:
- macro evolution, and
- Darwin, and
- ‘survival of the fittest’ (that only glorifies and excuses rapists, murderers and dictators) and
- NASA’s rubbish about comets being ‘dirty snowballs’, and
- Western Medicine’s insistence that human health is purely dependent on drugs and surgery,
and fails to see God’s hand behind every single facet of their life - they are covering up the power of the true Tzaddik in the generation.
But, every time a Jew is searching for Hashem in their life, and trying to live a life of simple emuna, and simply believing the words of the Gemara, and the words of our true Sages - they are empowering and revealing the Tzaddik of the generation in the world.
And sticking close to - and believing in the Tzaddikim of the generation - is the single best way to come through Nibiru / Kochak Yaakov-type scenarios in one piece, whoever you happen to be.
