After all those fried donuts, fried latkes, chocolate donuts, fried latkes, donuts with three types of cream (all different colours…), fried latkes - you get the picture - how could they not be?
So I thought it might be timely to explain a little bit about the energy approach to weight management, because strange as it sounds, and even harder that it is to believe, calories, fat and sugar are not the only things that cause people to gain weight.
For example, did you know that some foods are deliberately made with addictive sweeteners that send chemical reactions to your brain that tell you're still hungry, even if you just ate enough for a family of 8?
For example, did you know that your energy and your habit field can store 'fat ideas' and 'fat blueprints' even more effectively than your thighs? Until that 'fat producing' energy shifts, you'll regain whatever weight you lost by dieting.
For example, did you know that the two meridians underlying most of our weight issues are Triple Warmer (the home of the evil inclination) and Spleen (the home of 'happy' energy)? What that means is that if we get the Spleen and Triple Warmer meridian energies balanced, a lot of our eating issues can disappear by themselves.
Let's talk through a few real-life examples to see how this can work in practise (if you want more detailed info, this post is based on information contained in Donna Eden's excellent book, 'Energy Medicine for Women'.)
In common with 99.9% of women, when I'm having a bad day, I eat a lot of chocolate (I don't know what they put in that 'Torino' nougat, but I dream about it at night sometimes.)
Why am I doing that? Sometimes, it's because I'm lonely; sometimes it's because I'm feeling overwhelmed. But there could be a lot of other emotional reasons where we just feel like we need a friend - a food friend - to hold our hand.
All of these emotions, ultimately, are rooted in the Triple Warmer meridian (aka, the home of the evil inclination.) Calm down Triple Warmer, and my need for chocolate drops from 4 bars to one and a half…magic.
Triple Warmer is also behind anxious eating, keeping bad eating habits, and refusing to let the weight go even if we're only eating salad.
So how do we get Triple Warmer to back down? The most effective way is to sedate the acupressure point for Triple Warmer (click here to see how). You just hold the first set of points firmly for between 2-3 minutes; then switch sides of the body and hold again; then hold the second points for between 1-1.5 minutes, again on both sides of the body.
A way to stop a craving in its tracks is to draw a 5 pointed star on your stomach (don't you just love how weird and unpredictable this blog is?) Stick your finger in your bully button, push in, and then rake it straight up a few inches towards your breastbone. Pull back down to the belly button, then pull out to the left side: pull back to the centre, then continue around until you've made a 5 pointed star.
The star is directly related to the emotional energy in your meridians, and when you do this exercise, it breaks up the energy that was manifesting as 'give me icecream now!' into something more subtle and emotionally satisfying.
For long-term cravings, try the Temporal Tap, which helps to reprogram your habit field. On the left side, tap in a negatively-worded statement along the lines of: 'I don't crave chocolate any more' and on the right, use a positive statement like: "I enjoy being free from my chocolate craving."

In the meantime, whatever you eat, even if its donuts-latkes-donuts, if you eat it happily, with the appropriate blessings, and without guilt, you'll avoid most of the nutritional damage it can do.
But clearly, carrots are better.
