Gog and Magog are the chatrooms, the texting, the screens and social media that render people zombies, unable to think, communicate or read. It's destroying families. People walk in the streets and dangerously drive their cars while their eyes are glued to their screens.
They're addicted to texting and email, checking their smartphones every 30 seconds. This is Gog and Magog. The only way to fight this war is to get the screens out of our lives and to return to emuna, Torah and prayer.
Few people will heed me, even in the religious world, because they're so badly addicted to the venom of their smartphones. I feel so sorry for them and the excuses they make to keep them. I pray that Hashem will have mercy on them."
As for me, I'm still finding it hard to figure out what I'm doing online.
I'm writing a lot of stuff at home - for Emunaroma and elsewhere - but when I come to post it up, I suddenly lose all my motivation to blog or write stuff online.
Maybe, it's just all the weird vibes going on, or maybe God really is pushing me (and everyone else out there....) to stop spending so much time online and to communicate some other way, or some better way.
I'm debating going back to posting things up in one shot a week again, which I know isn't as 'attention grabbing' for you, dear reader, which means that my reader numbers will probably nosedive.
But I don't really want to be contributing to 'online addiction' even for the hopefully good stuff I put up here, so maybe posting a bunch of things up in one shot, or doing multiple posts two times a week, or something, is the way to go. I'm still pondering it.
In the meantime, the message is getting louder and louder that eye-Phones and social media is the main spiritual war we're all facing.
I know it's hard, dear reader! Like I keep saying, they are designing this stuff to be physiologically addictive, so breaking free is going to require far more than just willpower and good intentions. But at least even just knowing we've got a real fight on our hands is progress.
I'll keep you posted, but hopefully in a much less addictive and spiritually unhelpful way....
