There's just one problem with all this. (Actually as I write this, I realize there's far more than one problem, but I digress…) OK, so there's just two main problems will all this: firstly, I personally know so many people who came down with a really bad case of the flu, as a result of having the flu shot. In one instance, someone actually died from it.
The other problem, is that the flu shots are all based on last year's strain of 'killer virus', and as is the way with microbes, by this Winter it's already evolved into a whole different strain of disease (which you'll get the flu shot for NEXT year…)
So what's a person to do, if they want to try to stay healthy this Winter?
Firstly, ask G-d to help you (that's always the first answer).
Then, you could try a whole bunch of things from eating better to getting enough sleep and taking steps to detox your system and reduce your stress, because it's proven that stressed bodies are far more prone to succumbing to viruses and germs.
And then once you've done all that, you might want to try using some essential oils to boost the body's immune system.
In his many published works on aromatherapy, chemist Kurt Schnaubelt, PhD, explains that regular use of essential oils, or what he calls the 'aromatherapy lifestyle' approach, can significantly boost a person's immune system, and help them to have a much higher 'germ' threshold.
The basic idea is this: you can use essential oils for particular affects, such as killing-off microbes and viruses, dissolving catarrh and relaxing a stressed nervous system. But as well as the specific outcome, every essential oil also has a very positive effect on the immune system, promoting overall health and well-being.
Oils which are known for being particularly good for boosting the immune system (as well as their specific effects on specific physical and physiological conditions) include:
- Tea tree
- Peppermint (not more than a drop or two if using in the bath, as can irritate skin)
- Ravensare aromatica
- Eucalyptus radiata (fine on skin and for inhalation, but keep it far away from kids, as it can be very poisonous if ingested in large quantities)
- Niaouli (particularly good for men) and
- Laurel (don't overdo this one - keep at 1% dilution and alternate regular use with other essential oils)
Put 5-6 drops in a bath; in a footbath; or inhale as a steam. All of them can also be used with children except laurel, but make sure you read the safety advice for appropriate dilutions and applications.
And may G-d bless you, me and all of Am Yisrael with a healthy and safe Winter.
